The present study seeks to examine the themes of human suffering, self-identity and feminist
consciousness in Khaled Hosseini’s novels The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. This
research undertakes a comparative analysis of the experiences of human anguish, the author’s selfreflection and the portrayal of women’s issues within these selected works. It aims to illuminate the
forms of suffering endured by ordinary individuals living under religiously governed societies and to
contrast the ways in which women’s hardships are intensified in a patriarchal culture that not only
thrives on male dominance but also legitimizes it through
religious doctrine and sacred texts.
