Social media has become one of the most influential forces shaping youth culture in contemporary India. The rapid expansion of smartphones, affordable internet access, and digital communication platforms has transformed the ways young people interact, express themselves, consume information, and participate in social and cultural life. Platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, and X have emerged as important spaces for identity formation, social networking, entertainment, political participation, and cultural exchange among youth.
This study examines the sociological impact of social media on youth culture by analyzing changes in values, lifestyles, communication patterns, aspirations, and social relationships. The study explores how social media influences language use, fashion trends, consumer behavior, educational practices, and perceptions of success and social status. It also investigates the role of digital platforms in promoting political awareness, civic engagement, and social movements among young people.
