Abstract

Indian classical dance forms have long been intertwined with the spiritual and cultural fabric of India, serving as a medium of storytelling, devotion, and divine expression. This research paper delves into the intricate relationship between Indian dances and spirituality, exploring how these art forms transcend mere performance to become profound spiritual practices. The study begins by examining the historical context of Indian classical dances, tracing their origins back to ancient texts such as the Natya Shastra, written by the sage Bharata Muni. This seminal treatise not only codified the technical aspects of dance but also emphasized its sacred nature, presenting dance as a divine art bestowed by the gods to humanity. The paper also highlights how classical Indian dance forms have evolved over centuries, maintaining their spiritual essence while adapting to changing cultural landscapes.
