Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and his wife, Savitribai Phule, played a transformative role in India's social and educational reforms during the 19th century. Their efforts focused on creating equality and social justice through education, especially for marginalized groups such as women and the lower castes. Phule's educational philosophy emphasized inclusivity, advocating for universal education as a means of social empowerment and change. This paper explores Jyotirao Phule's contributions to education and social reform, analyzing his approach to primary education and its impact on the current educational landscape in India. It also examines the pioneering work of Savitribai Phule in women's education. Despite significant advancements in the Indian education system, issues of caste discrimination and gender inequality persist. Phule's ideas remain relevant today, offering a framework for addressing these challenges through an inclusive and practical approach to education. The study underscores the significance of Phule’s philosophy in shaping contemporary educational policies aimed at promoting social justice and equal opportunities. By revisiting Phule's contributions, the paper seeks to inspire ongoing efforts toward an equitable and inclusive education system in India.
