Asif Currimbhoy, one of India's foremost playwrights, is renowned for his socially realistic dramas that vividly portray contemporary socio-political issues. His works critically examine themes such as communalism, political corruption, economic disparity, and human suffering, making them significant contributions to Indian English drama. This study explores the research methodology adopted to analyze Currimbhoy’s writing through the lens of social realism. It employs a qualitative approach, incorporating textual analysis, historical context, and thematic interpretation to examine how his plays reflect the realities of Indian society. By analyzing selected plays such as the Refugee, Goa, and the dumb dancer, the research aims to highlight Currimbhoy’s narrative techniques, character development, and use of dramatic elements to portray social issues. The study also considers critical perspectives from literary scholars and socio-political contexts influencing his works. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of Currimbhoy’s role in shaping socially conscious literature in India.
