The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is in line with Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's philosophy of Antyodaya, which focuses on the upliftment of the last person in society. Upadhyaya had faith in an inclusive growth model giving prominence to the betterment of the underprivileged and backward sections of society. The "Integral Humanism" philosophy advocated a holistic approach to societal advancement, with the objective of achieving a balance between material and spiritual well-being.
Ayushman Bharat, being the world's largest health assurance scheme, echoes this philosophy in providing cashless health insurance up to ₹5 lakh per family annually to economically weaker sections. This program directly caters to the health needs of such people who, generally, do not have access to good medical facilities, ensuring that no one is left behind— “Anthodia’s” fundamental principle. By drawing on technology and connecting patients with hospitals across the country the program also reflects Updhyaya’s confidence in leveraging cutting-edge solutions for the common good.
