Understanding ‘Care Work’ in the context of Gender and Disability within Indian Families: A Rural-Urban Scenario

Abstract

This research paper will shed light upon the linkage between ‘care work’ and ‘disability’. It will start with unfolding the meaning of disability and how it affects care work within Indian families. It will further elaborate upon the working of these two variables within rural-urban settings. Subsequently, it will elaborate upon the existing similarities and differences reported between rural and urban families. Finally, the paper will discuss how this ‘care work’ largely affects women in both rural and urban Indian families in respect to disability.
