Abstract

In an interconnected world, the issue of transboundary air pollution emerges as a critical global challenge, transcending national borders and threatening both human health and environmental integrity. By analyzing key legal frameworks, treaties, and mechanisms, this research aims to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and potential avenues for improvement within the existing international legal landscape. This paper also explores the importance of global environmental law in addressing this multifaceted issue, highlighting the complexities of its sources and impacts. Through an examination of successful agreements like the clrtap, the paper underscores the effectiveness of collaborative efforts in reducing emissions of harmful pollutants. However, it also identifies significant challenges, including the lack of robust enforcement mechanisms and varying levels of commitment among states.
