Anita Desai is an English novelist and author of children’s books. Clear Light of Day (1980), is considered as the author’s most successful work, and is immensely praised for its highly sevocative portrait of two sisters caught in the latitude of Indian life. Its characters are revealed not only through imagery but through gesture, dialogue, and reflection.
This text is about family, discussing the manners and experiences a family goes through, and finally looks at the cleavages that might form within a family, why they might form within a family, and the importance of forgiveness in such a context for the preservation of the unity of a family as a unit
