Abstract

The National Health Mission (NHM) is a flagship program launched by the Government of India to improve healthcare access and quality, particularly for marginalized and vulnerable populations. This research paper examines the impact of the NHM on women in Haryana, focusing on its outcomes in maternal and child health, healthcare accessibility, and women's empowerment. Using secondary data from government reports, health surveys, and relevant academic studies, the analysis explores key NHM initiatives such as Janani Suraksha Yojana, institutional deliveries, immunization programs, and the provision of health services in rural areas. The paper highlights significant improvements in maternal mortality rates, increased access to healthcare facilities, and greater awareness of reproductive health among women. However, challenges such as uneven distribution of healthcare resources, gender disparities in healthcare access, and socio-cultural barriers remain prevalent. This research contributes to the understanding of NHM’s role in advancing women’s health and its implications for future health policies in Haryana.
