This research paper examines the complex spatial and structural dynamics of population mobility in Maharashtra, India, a state characterized by extreme regional economic disparities and rapid urban agglomeration. Drawing upon a comprehensive database that includes the Census of India 2011, the National Sample Survey (NSS) 64th Round (2007–08), and the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2020-21, this study maps and evaluates the multi-directional demographic flows across the state's five distinct macro-regions: the highly developed Western Maharashtra corridor, the semi-arid Deccan plateau of Marathwada, the agriculturally distressed Vidarbha plains, the tribal-dominated Tapi basin of Khandesh, and the coastal Konkan plain.
