Abstract

Generic medicines play a crucial role in healthcare due to their cost-effectiveness and equivalence in terms of active ingredients, dosage, and bioavailability compared to branded medicines. However, in India, the adoption of generic drugs has been slow, primarily because of concerns about their availability and doubts regarding their quality. To address this, the Indian government introduced Jan Aushadhi stores in 2012, specifically aimed at promoting the use of generics. This study explores the experiences and perceptions of patients using generic versus branded medicines.
