This study explores and compares the training approaches and coaching methodologies employed by Indian and international hockey instructors, focusing on their impact on player development and performance outcomes. With the growing global competitiveness of field hockey, understanding diverse coaching styles is essential for enhancing athlete potential and team success. The research examines key differences in tactical instruction, physical conditioning, psychological training, use of technology, and player-coach interaction. Using qualitative interviews with coaches and players, along with performance data analysis, the study highlights how international practices emphasize a more scientific and individualized approach, while Indian methods are often rooted in traditional, experience-based coaching. The findings suggest that integrating global best practices with local knowledge can lead to more effective player development strategies and improved international performance for Indian hockey teams.
